⚖ Last week was Law week, so we brought two valuable free services to Merinda Park Learning and Community Centre.
We had the Street Law Coffee Van from Peninsula Community Legal Centre to answer legal questions and talk about the free services they can offer the community, over a free coffee, which was very welcome on the sunny, but chilly day.

This is a great service, where qualified lawyer John was on hand answer legal questions, have a chat about any issues in a private office onsite at Merinda Park Learning and Community Centre over a hot cuppa. Mark was available to give our local community general information on how the law works in Australia and tell people about their free services.
The Peninsula Community Legal Centre offers free legal advice to people who live, work or study in the municipalities of Frankston, Casey, Cardinia, Glen Eira, Kingston and Mornington Peninsula. The Centre helps people use the law to protect and advance their rights, offering free advice on most legal issues, including family law, family violence, fines, tenancy and rooming house advocacy.
We also had a Justice of the Peace (JP) onsite to witness and certify documents, and they also dropped in to speak to our English students about the services they offer and how their service works.
Justices of the Peace are able to:
• witness attesting the execution of a document
• witness an affidavit for use in court
• witness a statutory declaration
• certify a true copy of an original document
